Complete Wether Goat Program - Selection, feeding, exercising, fitting, and showing. This will be a 3 hour session.

Scott Mauney - Scott is the Texas Extension Agent for Palo Pinto County in Texas. Students under Scott’s tutelage have consistently been class winners, had class placings, and Championships in the major Stock shows and in Jackpot shows throughout Texas.

Hoof trimming - From normal everyday maintenance to corrective hoof trimming.

John Edwards - John was a horse farrier, before goats! He was a track certified farrier at two different race tracks. He is the HEAD hoof trimmer at EGGS!!

Show Trimming & Fitting - How to trim your does and bucks for the show ring. There will be a session on does and another session on bucks.

Johnnie Ford - Johnnie owns and operates Double Hill Farms Boer goats. She is a RETIRED professional fitter! Johnnie has a VHS tapes and DVDs on trimming Boer Goats available from Backfence Videos. She will also have some available with her for purchase at the Seminar.

Marketing - Where the demand is for goat meat and meat goats. How goat meat is marketed and ways to capitalize on these markets. What the future looks like for goats.

Dr. Rick Machen - Dr. Machen is the Texas Extension Agent for Uvalde County in Texas. Rick has worked for Texas A & M Extension service for 16 years. His official title is Professor and Livestock Specialist with
Responsibilities for goat, sheep, and beef cattle programs with an added emphasis on Youth.

Photography Workshop - How to set-up and pose animals for pictures. How to change backgrounds and erase lead chains, etc.

Luke Vickrey - Luke has his degree in Photojournalism. He has been the photographer at the ABGA Nationals for 3 years and at the IBGA Nationals for 2 years. Luke operates a Boer goat semen Sales company, The Goat Factory, and his breeding farm is Outlaw Boer Goats. He is from Markle, Indiana.

Ultrasound Pregnancy Detection - an overview of ultrasound pregnancy detection and the importance of using it. All pregnant goats in the Showstopper Sale will be used to demonstrate on.

Nutrition and Parasite Control - Goats nutritional requirements will be addressed. The nutritional requirements of commercial meat goats through show goats will be discussed.

Dr. Rick Machen - He holds a Doctorate in Ruminant Nutrition. In his job with the Extension Service, he specializes in goats. Dr. Machen is the only speaker I know who can teach about by-pass proteins and keep you on the edge of your seat!!

Basic Reproduction - Reproductive anatomy and physiology. Hormone interaction in goats from pre-conception to birth.

John Edwards - Owner and operator of EGGS. John performed his first embryo flush on cattle in 1979. He has collected embryos cattle, sheep, goats, and horses. He collects and freezes semen on all of these species, also. John conducts several artificial insemination schools each year.

The Seminar is free of charge. It will be featured on DV Auction so it can be viewed and participated in on-line as it happens. The Seminar will begin at 9 am. On Friday, August 10 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, La.
